Are you ready for 2011 deer season??

Ameristep is constantly updating the hunting industry and its equipment. One of the newest designs is the spider hub technology. The spider hub is a metal stamped design that maximizes the strength of the blind and ensures a lifetime of usage. This new technology is also unaffected by extreme weather which makes it superior to other designs. One of the blinds that includes this is the new Carnivore blind. The Carnivore blind has a durable poly-cotton shell which reduces noise and sheen, 180 degree viewing and magnetic windows, a ground skirt that helps keep elements and light out and scent in and a custom backpack for carrying the blind and equipment. With hunting season almost here make sure that you have all the ameristep products you need for the upcoming year! Visit www.ameristep.com for full details!

2011 Kansas Turkey

This past weekend was the Kansas archery opener. Fellow Ameristep Pro-Staffer Rodney Evans and I were able to connect on some nice longbeards, which made for some awesome video footage!

On the morning of my hunt, the birds were grouped up with 10 strutters and a countless number of hens and jakes. We were able to get two of the longbeards to break away from the group and they came running in on a string, strutting the last 20 yards into the decoys for a 5 yard shot.

Rodney's bird came in from behind the blind and flew across a creek into a cut bean field with 4 other toms. They put on a show at 30 yards before Rodney was able to make a clean shot on one of the strutters.

Now it's time to break out the shotgun and take my 10 year old son out after his first longbeard. We're keeping our fingers crossed that the weather and birds will continue to cooperate! Hopefully everyone else will have some luck and a successful season. Have fun and hunt safe!

Exceptional Fall Turkey Season in 2010!!

Hi Gang!

Maine has had a Fall Turkey Season since 2002 and I've been out there every season, chasin' them old birds! This past Fall, (October), I spent two days in the timber with the goal being to call in, shoot, AND FILM, a gobbler... well on day 1 I called in two mature toms but they busted me when I foolishly craned my neck to look over some brush at them. On day 2 I called in 7 big mature gobblers, right to a fall decoy set up and managed to arrow the boss gob at 9 steps, from the ground, without a blind this time, AND I filmed the entire hunt myself!! The footage will air this year, (2011), on "AVERAGE JOES HUNTIN' SHOW", (Pursuit channel), plus it will appear on turkey hunting legend, Ray Eye's new Fall Turkey Hunting DVD...

Fall turkey hunting is challenging at best but boy...what a rush when it all comes together!!
